Every year on 23 June, the sporting world celebrates International Olympic Day. It is a day that highlights the values at the heart of the Olympic Movement: Excellence, Respect and Friendship. These values are not only part of the Olympic philosophy – they are also deeply rooted in the sport of Fistball.
Whether on local playing fields, at international tournaments or at World Championships, Fistball brings people together across borders, generations and cultures. Fair play, mutual respect and friendship have always been fundamental elements of the sport and continue to shape the global Fistball community.
IFA President Gastão Englert sees a strong connection between the Olympic values and the mission of the International Fistball Association:

The IFA Strategic Plan places a strong emphasis on building an international community through integrity, innovation and collaboration. From youth development and international competitions to educational programs and grassroots activities, the association aims to create opportunities for athletes of all ages and backgrounds to participate and grow within the sport.
“On this special day, let us reaffirm our commitment to these principles, inspire the next generation of athletes, and celebrate the positive influence of sport in uniting communities across the globe. Together, we embody the Olympic spirit and elevate the profile of Fistball on the world stage,” Englert adds.
International Olympic Day is therefore not only a celebration of sport itself, but also a reminder of the values that connect athletes around the world. The International Fistball Association is proud to share and promote these values every day – on and off the field.
