Registration Open for the IFA 2027 Men’s World Championship in Novo Hamburgo

published: August 12, 2026

The next step on the road to the IFA 2027 Fistball Men’s World Championship has been taken: IFA Member Federations can now register their national teams for the World Championship in Novo Hamburgo. The tournament will take place in Brazil from 12 to 17 October 2027. The registration deadline is 30 November 2026.

Following the presentation of the official World Championship logo earlier this year, preparations for the 17th Men’s Fistball World Championship continue to gather momentum. The opening of team registration marks another important organizational milestone.

The World Championship will be hosted by the traditional Sociedade Ginástica Novo Hamburgo, which is organizing the tournament in cooperation with the International Fistball Association (IFA) and the Confederação Brasileira de Desportes Terrestres (CBDT). Matches will be played on two courts at the club’s venue.

Registration until 30 November

All IFA Member Federations are invited to register their national team for the World Championship. Each federation may nominate one team, with the field limited to a maximum of 16 teams. Should more than 16 teams register, the established “IFA World Championship Selection and Qualification Criteria” will apply.

Registration is now open via fistball.org and must be completed by 30 November 2026.

Return to a historic World Championship venue

With Novo Hamburgo as host, the Men’s World Championship will return to a special place in fistball history in 2027. In 1976, the Brazilian city hosted the first Men’s World Championship held outside Europe. More than five decades later, the international fistball elite will once again come together in Rio Grande do Sul.

The visual identity of the upcoming World Championship has also already been established. Developed in cooperation with FEEVALE University, the official World Championship logo combines Brazil’s national colours with the regional identity of Novo Hamburgo and the city’s centenary. Its presentation earlier this year provided the first visible symbol of the preparations already underway.

A week dedicated to fistball

The World Championship will begin on Tuesday, 12 October 2027, with the first matches. Following the preliminary and qualification rounds, the decisive matches will take place over the weekend. The semifinals are scheduled for Saturday, while the medal matches and victory ceremony on Sunday, 17 October, will bring the sporting programme to a close.

The delegations will already come together on Monday before the tournament for the traditional Welcome Dinner.

Further information for participating federations – including upcoming deadlines and organizational details – will be published in the next official World Championship Bulletins.
