After a nine-year break, the IFA Men’s and Women’s Masters World Cup is making its return. The International Fistball Association has awarded the event for senior club teams to Sociedade Ginástica Novo Hamburgo. The tournament is scheduled to take place from 21-24 October 2027 – directly following the Men’s Fistball World Championship.
The International Fistball Association (IFA) has officially announced the host of the 2027 Masters World Cup: the Brazilian fistball stronghold Sociedade Ginástica Novo Hamburgo will organize the prestigious tournament for club teams in age categories starting from 30 years and older. The competition will take place immediately after the 2027 Men’s World Championship, also held in Novo Hamburgo, turning the city in the state of Rio Grande do Sul into the international center of fistball for nearly two weeks.
With this decision, the Masters World Cup returns after a longer absence. The last edition took place in 2018 in Vöcklabruck (Austria), featuring around 50 teams from all over the world. Now, the competition is set to become a permanent part of the international fistball calendar once again. “It is fantastic that the Masters World Cup is back,” emphasized IFA President Gastão Englert. “Masters competitions always create a very special atmosphere – highly competitive on the field, but at the same time defined by friendship, community and a shared passion for our sport. This is exactly the spirit we want to strengthen and establish again in the long term.”
A central part of the concept is the direct connection with the Men’s World Championship. The aim is to create synergies for players and teams: participants will first have the opportunity to experience the World Championship finals live as spectators before stepping onto the very same courts themselves during the Masters World Cup. “This combination is unique and creates an additional incentive for international teams to travel to Brazil,” said Englert.
Competitions are planned in six age categories: women’s 30+ and 40+, as well as men’s 35+, 45+, 55+ and 60+. The event is therefore designed to appeal to a broad range of the international fistball community. The tournament will be held from Thursday to Sunday, October 21–24, at the sports complex of Sociedade Ginástica Novo Hamburgo.
Excitement is already growing among the organizers in Novo Hamburgo. In addition to high-level competition, the host club aims to offer participating teams a comprehensive event experience. “We do not only want to organize a great tournament but also create an attractive social and cultural program so that all athletes feel completely welcome here,” said Jorge Leandro Dhein. Several activities are already being planned for the days between the Men’s World Championship finals and the start of the Masters World Cup. “We are already looking forward to the incredible encounters and reunions among the many fistball players from around the world who will come together at the Masters World Cup,” Dhein added.
IFA Head of Events Sönke Spille also welcomed the decision: “We are very pleased to have found an experienced and highly committed organizer in Sociedade Ginástica Novo Hamburgo. The combination of the World Championship and the Masters World Cup provides ideal conditions for an outstanding event.” The official registration process for teams will open during the course of 2026. “We are convinced that many teams from all over the world will make the trip to Brazil and turn the days in Novo Hamburgo into a truly special event,” said Spille.

Die International Fistball Association (IFA) hat den Austragungsort für den Masters World Cup 2027 vergeben: Die brasilianische Faustballhochburg Sociedade Ginástica Novo Hamburgo wird das traditionsreiche Turnier für Vereinsmannschaften der Altersklassen ab 30 Jahren ausrichten. Der Wettbewerb findet unmittelbar im Anschluss an die Männer-Weltmeisterschaft 2027 ebenfalls in Novo Hamburgo statt – und macht die Stadt im Bundesstaat Rio Grande do Sul für fast zwei Wochen zum internationalen Mittelpunkt des Faustballsports.
Mit der Vergabe kehrt der Masters World Cup nach längerer Pause zurück: Zuletzt wurde das Turnier 2018 in Vöcklabruck (Österreich) ausgetragen, damals mit rund 50 Mannschaften aus aller Welt. Nun soll der Bewerb wieder zu einem festen Bestandteil des internationalen Faustballkalenders werden. „Es ist großartig, dass der Masters World Cup zurück ist“, betont IFA-Präsident Gastão Englert. „Die Masters-Wettbewerbe zeichnen sich immer durch eine ganz besondere Atmosphäre aus – sportlich ambitioniert, aber gleichzeitig geprägt von Gemeinschaft und Leidenschaft für unseren Sport. Genau dieses Gefühl wollen wir wieder stärken und langfristig etablieren.“
Ein zentrales Element des Konzepts ist die direkte Verbindung mit der Männer-Weltmeisterschaft. Ziel ist es, Synergien für Spielerinnen und Spieler zu schaffen: Sie können zunächst die Finalspiele der WM hautnah als Fans miterleben und anschließend selbst auf den WM-Plätzen ins Geschehen eingreifen. „Diese Kombination ist einzigartig und bietet einen zusätzlichen Anreiz für internationale Teams, die Reise nach Brasilien anzutreten“, sagt IFA-Präsident Englert.
Geplant sind Wettbewerbe in gleich sechs Altersklassen: Bei den Frauen in den Kategorien 30+ und 40+, bei den Männern in den Klassen 35+, 45+, 55+ und 60+. Damit richtet sich das Event an eine breite Zielgruppe innerhalb der internationalen Faustball-Community. Ausgetragen wird die Veranstaltung von Donnerstag bis Sonntag, 21. bis 24. Oktober, auf der Sportanlage von Sociedade de Ginástica Novo Hamburgo.
Beim Ausrichter in Novo Hamburgo ist die Vorfreude bereits groß. Neben hochklassigem Sport soll den teilnehmenden Teams ein umfassendes Erlebnis geboten werden. „Wir möchten nicht nur ein tolles Turnier organisieren, sondern auch ein abwechslungsreiches Rahmenprogramm schaffen, damit sich alle Athletinnen und Athleten bei uns rundum wohlfühlen“, so Jorge Leandro Dhein, Präsident von Sociedade de Ginástica Novo Hamburgo. So sind verschiedene Angebote zwischen dem Finaltag der Männer-Weltmeisterschaft und dem Beginn des Masters World Cup geplant. Dhein: „Wir freuen uns schon jetzt auf die unglaublich tollen Begegnungen, der vielen Faustballerinnen und Faustballer, die uns beim Masters World Cup erwarten werden.“
IFA Head of Events Sönke Spille zeigt sich ebenfalls zufrieden mit der Vergabe: „Wir sind sehr froh, mit Sociedade Ginástica Novo Hamburgo einen erfahrenen und engagierten Ausrichter gefunden zu haben. Die Kombination aus Weltmeisterschaft und Masters World Cup bietet ideale Voraussetzungen für eine herausragende Veranstaltung.“ Die offizielle Ausschreibung zur Registrierung der Teams wird im Laufe des Jahres 2026 erfolgen. Spille: „Wir sind überzeugt, dass viele Teams aus aller Welt die Reise antreten und die Tage in Novo Hamburgo zu einem ganz besonderen Event machen werden.“
